This newscast will feature a bit of local news, weather, and sports as per the usual offerings during the lunch-time slot with a few more additions. Local tourism, entertainment, special events, foods, Kentucky history, and weekend happenings will all be added as well.
While many married couples might balk at the idea of working together, Doug and Lyssa exude the typical Kentucky family. They have that home and professional life balance and are incredibly relatable as they’re going through the same challenges as everyone else raising a family and working in the current world.
That dynamic chemistry will certainly keep people tuned in during the noon show. Brought forth by the WTVQ News Director Miranda Combs, the idea was to bring in a staple of the local community to make the show more relevant. Since both Doug and Lyssa are beloved in the area, it was perfect timing on Miranda’s part to snag Doug back for this role.
“The opportunity to work side-by-side with Lyssa on my lunch hour while continuing to fulfill my mission at the Kentucky Historical Society Foundation is going to be such a blessing for me. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to do the work we love and passionate about while spending time and sharing stories with our viewers. We hope they’re as excited as we are,” Doug said.
