Got Pizza? We've Rounded Up the Best Pizza Joints in Lexington

Pizza is to humanity what bourbon is to Kentucky.

It’s an imperative part of life, and — lucky for us Lexingtonians — Lexington loves itself some pizza as well.

Here are seven of our favorite mouthwatering pizza joints around Lexington that you should try next time you have a craving for a good pie.

Goodfellas

New York-style pizza lovers rejoice. Goodfellas Pizzeria serves up ooey-gooey thin-slice pizzas that will transport your tastebuds directly to the Big Apple. Buy a whole pie to order or purchase a slice out of their display case. They also have a few specialties, including traditional Neopolitan pizza to pies loaded with every topping imaginable. Don't sleep on their meatball signature meatball subs or cannolis either — they're fantastic!

Pies & Pints

Pies & Pints is the perfect place to go when you want to savor a slice and stay for a drink with friends. Their house and specialty pies are phenomenal, all starting with their special blend of provolone and mozzarella cheese. Pies & Pints finish all their crusts with garlic oil and kosher salt, and, if you ask, they’ll even make their pies vegan, lactose-free, and gluten-free. However, like it says in their name, it’s not a full experience without washing down a specialty pie with a refreshing ice-cold pint of beer, so have fun browsing their fun craft selection.

Dining in at Puccini’s Pizza

Puccini's Smiling Teeth

Puccini's is a place that prides itself on using all-natural flour, Californian sun-ripened tomatoes, and high-quality imported and domestic Italian cheeses. This attention to detail paid off when they won the "Best Classic Pizza in America" category at Parma, Italy's World Pizza Championships. (#majorflex!) You can customize your pie with their extensive toppings list or choose one of their combos. Most of their menu items can also be made vegan and gluten-free.

Joe Bologna's

Joe Bologna's is a unique pizzeria located in a former synagogue. Not only is its ambiance one-of-a-kind, but its pies are also noteworthy with traditional flavors like Margherita and Four Cheese alongside more creative ones like Mexican Pizza. Additionally, diners can choose between a round thin-crust pizza or a thicker Sicilian pan. Joe Bologna's also serves a variety of appetizers, scratch-made soups, subs, and homemade pasta.

Mad Mushroom

No, Mad Mushroom doesn't only serve mushrooms. Instead, this delicious pizzeria has a variety of options to try, and you'll find some flavors here that you won't find anywhere else. These include Nashville Hot Chicken, Kentucky Hot Brown, and Philly Cheesesteak Pizza. They also come up with new inventions each month, so make sure to ask them about their “Pizza of the Month” to see what they're currently serving. It’s sure to be exciting with every bite.

Pietana

Did you know there is a “Lexington-style pizza”? Local favorite, Pietana, accredits their success to keeping it local. From getting produce from Creation Gardens and the Lexington Farmer’s Market to using cheese from Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese or Boone Creek Creamery. They don’t stop there, pizza toppings include beef brisket from Blue Door Smokehouse, sausage from Marksbury Farm and sausage gravy from nearby Winchell’s Restaurant & Bar. The signature ingredient in this wood-fired pizzas is in the dough. PieTana uses amber ale from West Sixth Brewing in place of yeast and water.

Rolling Oven

Rolling Oven serves sensational wood-fired scratch-made pizza with international influences. If you’re feeling in the mood for something different, try one of their famous Sweet Thai Chili Chicken, Potato and Chorizo, Bourbon BBQ, and Honey Garlic Pizzas. Want something sweet?
